The manufacturer of medical aids medi, based in Bayreuth, now welcomes customers again with a functioning website and shop. However, the company's information shows that it was probably hit very hard by the cyber attack.
Already At the beginning of August we reported on the cyber attack on the manufacturer of medical aids medi. The company provided transparent information about current events at all times. But for quite a long time no orders and little customer contact were possible. That looks better now. The official log shows that the cyber attack not only affected the website and the shop, but also production, logistics and even the administration for administrative processes.
A heavy blow to the entire IT
This area still doesn't seem to be fully operational. At least medi reports on test runs and is now putting safety first. According to the log, 21 days have now passed since the attack. According to studies, this is the mean value until an affected company has restored its systems. medi is probably overdoing it a bit, but seems to be on the right track. The published protocol from medi says this status applies on 24.08:
- “An important success: our customer service is now available again for orders from specialist retail customers such as medical supply stores and pharmacies. Specialist retail customers are asked to use the medi e-shop at eshop.medi.de for this purpose.
- Current status in the commercial sector: In production, production and logistics are starting up again step by step. There are currently delays in delivery - thank you very much for your understanding.
- And in administration, too, everything is being done to ensure that administrative processes get going again as soon as possible. Safety first: With comprehensive test runs, we want to restore the stability of the IT systems and smooth processes.”
Other companies that, like medi, were victims of a cyber attack, have also repaired their damage. These include Knauf building materials, Hygiene article manufacturer CWS or Electronics manufacturer Semikron. IHK has its website online again. All companies have had problems getting their website systems up and running again for a long time. A report from Semikron suggests that the systems are still being forensically examined.
