Trend Micro introduces the generative AI tool Trend Companion as a new cybersecurity assistant. This helps IT security analysts optimize their workflows and improves productivity. Alerts in particular are transparent more quickly and suitable recommendations are available more quickly.

Trend Companion can significantly reduce the time analysts spend on manual risk assessments and threat investigations. An easy-to-understand natural language interface

  • explains and contextualizes alerts.
  • reviews response measures and makes individual recommendations.
  • deciphers and explains complex scripts and command lines.
  • helps analysts develop and execute sophisticated threat hunting queries.
  • helps incident responders develop OSQuery queries in IR and Forensics module.

Over 13.000 Trend Micro customers already have access to Trend Companion. Using AI, SecOps analysts – regardless of their level of expertise – can reduce the average time to understand the event and make faster, more informed decisions.

Clear analyzes thanks to AI evaluation

According to analysts, generative AI will be integrated into all major security products in the future. Jon Oltsik, analyst and fellow at TechTarget's Enterprise Strategy Group, explains that Trend Companion has the potential to bridge the gap between SecOps knowledge and execution: “Companion can help cybersecurity teams gain better insights Accelerate detection and response to threats and strengthen their defense capabilities. I look forward to the future benefits this technology will have for security professionals now and in the future, as well as the positive impact it will have in addressing the skills shortage across the industry.”

Trend Vision One's threat alerts are model-driven to adapt to the ever-changing threat landscape. However, AI alone is not enough to keep security teams working at peak efficiency. The data on which AI is built is crucial. At this point, the solution benefits from Trend Mikro's global threat research teams and the Zero Day Initiative, the world's largest vendor-independent bug bounty program.

AI: Faster response time to threats

The combination of adaptive, model-driven threat alerts in Trend Vision One and Trend Companion's GenAI capabilities can reduce incident response time by 30 percent. This can reduce the time required to create reports by up to two hours per report and enable more complete containment of attacks overall. In this way, Companion helps proactively minimize the likelihood of a breach occurring.

“Overburdened security teams struggle with the sheer volume and complexity of threat intelligence. Trend Companion is our answer: an innovative, generative AI tool that reduces complexity and accelerates security operations," explains Kevin Simzer, COO at Trend Micro, "This is an example of the transformative innovation that drives our leading cybersecurity platform. We have invested a lot to bring this tool to market quickly and with high quality.”
