Zero Trust: Promotion with hardware security keys for MFA

Cloudflare makes hardware security keys more accessible than ever to millions of customers and increases security with MFA. An exclusive offer has been created in collaboration with Yubico to end phishing attacks once and for all.

Cloudflare, Inc. is the security, performance and reliability specialist dedicated to creating a better Internet. The company presents a new offering that makes physical security keys the most accessible and economical solution for customers to better protect their business and employees. Cloudflare customers can purchase security keys from Yubico, the leading provider of hardware security keys, the most secure form of phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA), at an exclusive price that benefits the internet.

MFA access with Yubico hardware key

The Zero Trust security model states that, by default, no one is trusted, whether they are inside or outside a corporate network. Anyone attempting to access resources on the corporate network must verify themselves, including location, trusted devices, and passwords. Today, hardware security keys are an added layer of protection and an MFA method proven to be phishing-resistant.

Cloudflare customers can take advantage of a Yubico Security Key Series offer at deeply discounted prices, starting at just $10, through their Cloudflare dashboard. Larger companies using Cloudflare and purchasing a YubiEnterprise multi-year subscription to YubiKeys receive a 50 percent discount on the first year of a minimum three-year subscription. The goal of this collaboration is to make purchasing, activating and authenticating with security keys simple and seamless for companies of all sizes.

MFA prevented large SMS phishing attack

In July, Cloudflare prevented a data breach from an SMS phishing attack that targeted more than 130 businesses. The reason for this was that the company used Cloudflare Zero Trust in combination with YubiKeys. Physical security keys add much more complexity to an attack and can be used in conjunction with additional security measures such as DNS filtering, browser isolation, cloud email security and more, all while requiring an attacker to compromise every signal.

With Yubico, Cloudflare ensures that physical security keys offer the following properties

  • Inexpensive: Adopting security keys can be difficult for organizations with smaller security teams or those just getting started with two-factor authentication. By offering security keys at the best price, this offer puts less financial strain on small businesses.
  • Accessible: Now Cloudflare customers can order the Security Key Series, which supports FIDO-based authentication, directly from their dashboard. Available through YubiEnterprise subscription, the YubiKey Series supports multiple authentication protocols from legacy applications to modern FIDO-based apps and services. Exclusive, internet-friendly pricing helps bring Cloudflare customers closer to the value and functionality of hardware keys.
  • Easy to use: Setting up security keys is easy for participating Cloudflare customers. Cloudflare Zero Trust makes it easy for administrators to use their security keys with any Identity Provider (IdP) and integrate both the keys and the IdP into a comprehensive Zero Trust solution. Through a simple, guided challenge, employees can seamlessly authenticate themselves by touching the security key. Security keys work on all devices, operating systems and in all areas of an organization.

"Yubico pioneered the modern security key, the YubiKey, and continues to set the industry standard to protect enterprise customers and consumers from security threats," said Stina Ehrenvard, CEO and co-founder of Yubico. “Today's attacks require modern MFA. Working with Cloudflare will help get more Security Keys and YubiKeys into the hands of customers. They can benefit from the combination of phishing-resistant MFA and have peace of mind knowing they are safe.” The promotion is available to Cloudflare customers until December 31, 2022.
