The NCP Secure Enterprise Management Server (“SEM”) is the central component of the “single point of administration” of the NCP VPN Enterprise solution. With it, companies can conveniently administer their remote access network from a central location and do not have to deal with a large number of isolated solutions.

In the new version 6.10, "SEM" administrators benefit from a REST API and an add-on license option for two-factor authentication. In addition, the "SEM" 6.10 is suitable for use with the NCP VS GovNet solution approved by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI).

VPN solution approved by the BSI

As of version 6.10, the “SEM” supports the REST API interface (Representational State Transfer – Application Programming Interface). This enables administrators to request status information from the system or to transfer command scripts to the "SEM". Of particular note is the NCP "SEM" API for Python included in the scope of delivery, which provides users with a powerful interface to "SEM".

The two-factor authentication according to TOTP or SMS procedure can be booked or activated in "SEM" 6.10 as a paid license option. After that, either a time-based one-time password (TOTP) or alternatively an SMS can be made available with the NCP Secure Enterprise Management Server as a second factor for the VPN dial-up. A software token is required to generate the one-time password according to the TOTP procedure on the user side. This can be generated with the NCP Authenticator App, which is available as a free download for smartphones and tablets from the Apple Store and Google Play Store. For added security, the NCP Authenticator app may require biometric authentication (fingerprint or face recognition) before unlocking the passcode.

Administration via SEM 6.10

The "SEM" 6.10 can be used for the administration of the NCP VS GovNet Connector. This is a software client for Windows 10 approved by the Federal Office for Information Security for VS-NfD. Users can thus benefit from the advantages of central administration. The NCP VS GovNet solution consisting of two software components can be used for a full VS-NfD workplace:

  • NCP VS GovNet Connector with BSI approval for "VS-NfD", "RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED" and "NATO RESTRICTED"
  • NCP Secure VPN GovNet Server with BSI approval for VS-NfD.

Both components are ideally suited for the secure processing and transmission of sensitive data within the framework of the specified secrecy levels.

In addition, NCP Secure Enterprise Management 6.10 replaces NCP Exclusive Remote Access Management. As a result, the NCP Exclusive Remote Access clients coordinated with Juniper SRX gateways are now also managed centrally with the "SEM". The NCP Remote Access solution also offers great flexibility in terms of licensing. In addition to the conventional purchase license, the solution can also be operated with a flexible pay-per-use license. Especially in times of a pandemic, this variant was selected by customers as being very flexible.
