According to a survey of 900 C-level executives, technology risks and cybercrime will be among the most important issues for their companies in 2022. This is the result of a survey by Diligent.

The continuing threat of cybercrime is a serious concern for organizations, according to a recent survey of 900 C-level executives by corporate governance platform provider Diligent. Respondents identified technology and cyber risk as one of the top challenges their organization is facing this year. Three out of ten top executives surveyed also indicated that their organization had been affected by cybercrime in the last 18 months.

30 percent of companies have already been victims

With rapid technological advances, hackers are finding new ways to steal even sensitive information from top management meetings and discussions. This worries top executives as the scale of cybercrime exceeds the ability of businesses and government agencies to prevent attacks. Cyber criminals always have an advantage in their activities. Against the background of the very real threats, companies must put in place effective countermeasures to protect valuable resources such as communication among top managers. A digital platform that enables secure exchange and agile decision-making processes is recommended at the top management level.

To reduce the risk of future security breaches, organizations need a clear strategy and roadmap, Diligent says. Strong digital resilience is a fundamental building block for business resilience. “The security measures developed by companies are usually not robust enough. Innovative strategies are needed to meet the new cybersecurity challenges,” said Peter Herr, Director of Sales DACH at Diligent.

Digital corporate governance platforms

Peter Herr continues: “Most companies do not want to spend time protecting themselves against cyber attacks. Engaging a company like Diligent that specializes in modern governance strengthens their sense of security. Modern governance also includes digital corporate governance platforms that help companies protect their data and reputation and make the right decisions.”
