The laboratory experts at AV-TEST have examined security apps for endpoint security solutions. The protective effect (protection), the speed (performance) and the usability (usability) were evaluated. Employees should also protect their private cell phones - there is also a current security app test for this.

The AV-TEST Institute has in Realistic tests in March and April 2021 tested security apps for endpoint security solutions. The companies ESET, Sophos and Symantec are also in the test. The laboratory has also published the test values from Google Play Protect for comparison. Because Play Protect runs automatically on every current Android smartphone and examines installed and new apps. The test areas for all apps: protection, speed and usability (that stands for false positives).

Android protection for business

The Android endpoint security apps from ESET and Symantec get a full 6 points for protection - Sophos still very good 5,5 points. For comparison: the standard protection of Google Protect failed according to AV-TEST in the test and received 0 points. In terms of speed and usability, all apps are almost equally at the top. • Sophos Intercept X for Mobile - 17,5 out of 18 points
  • Symantec Endpoint Security Complete - 18 out of 18 points
  • Google Play Protect - 11 out of 18 points

15 security apps for private employee smartphones

The result shows that everything is better than protection via Google Play Protect (6 out of 18 points).
