The IT security association TeleTrusT awards ESET the quality mark “IT security made in EU”. The European manufacturer supports the industry initiative and signs a declaration of conformity.

IT security is a matter of trust. Companies and private users must be able to rely on the performance and reliability of the technologies and solutions used. The largest German IT security association proves that European companies have a lot to offer here and will have to emphasize this more clearly in the future with its trust seal “IT security made in Europe”. ESET, the industry pioneer and largest manufacturer of IT software security solutions with headquarters in the European Union, joins the new initiative. By signing the voluntary declaration of conformity, ESET underscores its commitment to EU data protection and trustworthy IT security technologies.

“European manufacturers need not hide themselves in global comparison when it comes to innovation and quality. We therefore welcome the TeleTrusT initiative to introduce a seal of trust for IT security solutions at EU level, ”says Holger Suhl, Country Manager DACH, ESET Deutschland GmbH. “When using IT security products, companies and consumers must be able to rely on compliance with the strict EU General Data Protection Regulation at all times. ESET goes one step further: By signing the self-declaration, we are also underlining the no-backdoor guarantee that ESET takes for granted. "

TeleTrusT sign initiative

On the occasion of the German EU Council Presidency in 2020 and against the background of the debate on European digital sovereignty, the Bundesverband IT-Sicherheit eV (TeleTrusT) established the labeling option "IT Security made in EU" for products and services of its members.

The use of the TeleTrusT trust mark "IT Security made in EU" is permitted by TeleTrusT to association members upon request and with a declaration of conformity to the following criteria.

The requirements or criteria for a TeleTrust award

  • The company headquarters must be in the EU.
  • The company must offer trustworthy IT security solutions.
  • The products offered must not contain any hidden access points (no "backdoors").
  • The company's IT security research and development must take place in the European Union.
  • The company must undertake to comply with the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
