Demands on politicians: Bundesverband IT-Sicherheit eV (TeleTrusT) publishes “IT Security Agenda 2029”. The new federal government must ensure at all levels and together with the relevant stakeholders that damage of over 200 billion euros is significantly reduced.

Germany and Europe must be able to shape the digital future appropriately and confidently. To this end, the Bundesverband IT-Sicherheit eV (TeleTrusT) believes it is imperative that Germany take a pioneering role in the field of IT security. For the next two legislative periods of the German Bundestag, TeleTrusT has therefore made important and urgent demands with its IT Security Agenda 2029.

The central demands

Clear commitment to unlimited IT security

  • Creating technological sovereignty in the area of IT security - for a value-oriented, secure and trustworthy digital future
  • Demand and promote the development and expansion of IT security infrastructures for citizens, companies and administrations
  • More IT security technology "Made in Germany" in practice
  • Prohibition of compromising IT security, no backdoors, state Trojans or weakened encryption
  • European IT security laws for increased legal and investment security - clear, consolidated and agile

TeleTrusT CEO Prof. Dr. Norbert Pohlmann: “IT security problems and the resulting damage are constantly increasing. Estimated at EUR 50 billion four years ago, over EUR 100 billion two years ago, they now amount to more than EUR 220 billion. The new federal government must ensure at all levels and together with the relevant stakeholders that this damage is significantly reduced. Because this is the only way we can achieve our goal of creating a sovereign, secure and trustworthy digital future.”

Technological and digital sovereignty of Germany and Europe

RA Karsten U. Bartels LL.M., Deputy TeleTrusT CEO: “If we want technological and digital sovereignty in Germany and Europe, politicians must massively strengthen IT security in the next two legislative periods. Our six core requirements summarize what is required for this: the state must actively promote IT security and not compromise it. This also applies to the right to encryption without state back doors. IT security infrastructures are to be expanded and used by the state itself in such a way that they are used in everyday private and business life.”

IT security agenda 2029

Technological and digital sovereignty can only be successfully implemented through a targeted and long-term approach. There are currently too many individual initiatives that are barely having any effect. An implementation strategy is required that defines goals, prioritizes and stipulates measures and distributes tasks between politics, administration, manufacturers and application companies and research. Politicians are called upon to provide the starting point for the implementation strategy and to support it in the long term. Other states are already consistently pursuing corresponding implementation plans. As a result, Germany and Europe must regain and maintain their competitiveness compared to other regions in order to shape the digital future as independently as possible.
