Secure collaboration with the content collaboration platform

Modern teamwork with real-time content collaboration offers more security, is accessible and makes administration easier than ever. A new antivirus service protects against Trojans, viruses and other malware.

The new, third version of ownCloud Infinite Scale is now accessible according to WCAG 2.1, improves GDPR compliance and further expands the Spaces feature. It also comes with a faster and more flexible WebUI, simplifies administration and offers numerous new functions, including for even more security.

New antivirus service and file firewall

A new antivirus service protects against Trojans, viruses and other malware, thus ensuring secure file sharing. It scans files with an external engine before storing them and prevents the spread of infected data. The integration of antivirus scanners via ICAP (Internet Content Adaptation Protocol) makes it possible to outsource the scanning process to a dedicated service, which improves performance and scalability.

A new File Firewall adds an additional layer of file-level security. Administrators can restrict the upload of files with definable rules and criteria, such as based on file extensions, mime types and even content. With the Open Policy Agent (OPA) they can define rule sets and Infinite Scale's Policy Service then checks whether a requested operation is allowed or not. This granular control helps prevent unwanted and unauthorized uploads.

Full text search with Apache Tika

With the new full-text search in Infinite Scale's Search Service, end users can find the information they need faster and more efficiently than ever before. You can now search files by their content in addition to titles and metadata. This eliminates the need to manually search through countless folders and files for spreadsheets, presentations and other documents you need. Full-text search uses the Apache Content Analysis Toolkit Tika for advanced content extraction.

Compliance through Policy Service, WCAG 2.1 and GDPR export

Infinite Scale 3.0's policy and antivirus services can perform virus scans or signature checks, and if the contents of the files meet certain conditions, enforce necessary actions. As the first ever open-source content collaboration software, Infinite Scale 3.0 is also barrier-free and complies with the WCAG standard 2.1 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Additionally, end-users can now export all GDPR-related data used by an ownCloud instance with a single click – no admin intervention is required. The data is exported to a JSON file and can therefore be automatically processed further in an uncomplicated manner.

Easier administration through custom roles

Administrators benefit from custom roles such as admin, space admin, and user. They can be equipped with different permissions and make it easy to configure roles that meet the individual needs of an organization. Advanced filters and roles allow ownCloud admins to use tags or descriptive words when filtering content. You can conveniently filter users by groups and roles, enabling you to locate specific user segments more quickly and manage them more efficiently. Stack and filter actions, extended groups and the new management of spaces also make your everyday work easier.

Improved WebUI and data classification with tags

The numerous clients of Infinite Scale (Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS) have been equipped with extensive improvements. This includes an auto-configuration with a connection wizard that uses WebFinger and a significantly optimized WebUI, which can now also be used to share links. In addition, Infinite Scale now offers the possibility to categorize files with tags flexibly and intuitively. By assigning relevant tags to files, end users can more easily find the documents they are looking for. You don't have to remember any file names or laboriously navigate through complex folder structures. Users can assign multiple tags to a single file and thus classify documents according to different criteria. This enables them to have a personalized organization that is based on their individual preferences and working methods.

Streamlined teamwork experience from Spaces

With version 1.0, Infinite Scale introduced Feature Spaces - a revolutionary new way of collaborating in modern organizations. Spaces offer person-independent data rooms that can have different managers and numerous members with different permissions. With Infinite Scale 3.0, the Spaces feature has received a major update to further enhance collaboration and productivity. In addition, it now ensures that roles, access and permissions are enforced. In addition, space templates can now be added. They eliminate the need to manually create folders and subfolders when starting a new project or when onboarding a new team.

Easier tracking of file versions and anonymous file storage

The concept of file versions has been completely revised for Infinite Scale 3.0. End users can now track and return to previous versions more easily than ever. Every time someone changes or updates a file, a new version is created and saved, maintaining a complete timeline of changes. The new "Secret File Drop" feature replaces the previous "Uploader" and allows users to generate unique links to be shared with external parties. Recipients can use these links to submit files anonymously, without needing a registered account and without gaining insight into other transmissions.
