Bitdefender released the REvil decryptor back in September, which was able to restore data encrypted by REvil ransomware. The security provider Bitdefender not only developed the tool, but also helped a lot in breaking up the organization.

Romanian authorities have also made arrests as part of the REvil investigation. These are some of the results of Operation GoldDust, a coordinated action involving 19 law enforcement agencies in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Romania, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Kuwait, the United The United Kingdom and the United States as well as Europol, Interpol and Eurojust were involved.

REvil decryptor saves approx. 550 million

In parallel, Bitdefender is assessing the usefulness of its universal REvil decryptor, which the company released back in September. Affected companies are likely to have saved around half a billion US dollars in ransom payments thanks to the tool. After the REvil infrastructure went partially offline, victims who had not paid the ransom could no longer restore their encrypted data. The tool may allow victims to regain control of their data. Using the decryptor is relatively easy. However, Bitdefender provides instructions for operation in PDF form.

If you are still struggling with encrypted data, you can try the decryptor for security, even if it was actually intended for attacks before August 2021. Here is the direct download of the Bitdefender decryptor.
