Ransomware protection as a business solution

More security for companies with the Avast product Ransomware Protection. Avast sees a 24 percent increase in ransomware attacks globally in Q2/2022 compared to the previous quarter. In addition to an additional layer of security, "ransomware protection" offers companies the opportunity to have uninterrupted access to their systems and data.

Avast, a global leader in digital security and privacy solutions, is launching Ransomware Protection, a new business solution that offers more security against ransomware attacks. With this proactive feature, companies can protect their most important data, especially customer data, from unauthorized access. The new feature is now integrated into the Avast Business Security packages (Essential, Premium and Ultimate) and is available for both Windows and macOS.

Proactive features against ransomware

Despite the decline in Q4 2021 and Q1 2022, ransomware attacks are currently increasing again worldwide. In the second quarter of 2022, Avast saw a 24 percent increase in ransomware attacks compared to the first quarter of 2022.

“Small and medium-sized businesses face a growing threat from ransomware. Cyber criminals are increasingly targeting smaller organizations to encrypt important business data and disrupt operations,” explains Thomas Hefner, Sales Director DACH & CEE. “The consequences can be devastating for smaller businesses that do not have the financial and technical resources to recover from such attacks. Avast antivirus has always provided consumers and business users with powerful protection against cyber threats, including ransomware. Ransomware Protection now provides a specially designed, additional layer of security to protect an organization's most important files from these malicious attacks."

Ransomware protection complements the range of solutions

While Avast customers are already protected against ransomware with the existing products Web Shield, File Shield and Behavior Shield, Ransomware Protection complements the range of solutions, creating a multi-layered protection that ensures organizations have uninterrupted access to their systems and data. The feature protects files and folders from being modified, deleted or encrypted by unknown applications. Users can control which applications are allowed to access their files, providing an additional level of protection for a company's most sensitive and important data. The new feature is automatically enabled by default. Users can customize the list of files and folders to protect in the Policies section of Avast Business Hub, the cloud-based enterprise security platform.
