Ivanti and Avast Business are integrating patch management technology into small business security platforms. OEM partnership: Automated patching of vulnerabilities supports SMEs and IT service providers in simplifying endpoint security.
Ivanti and Avast Business, a leading global provider of products for digital security and data protection, are significantly expanding their OEM partnership from 2019: The integration of Ivanti Security Controls Advanced SDK for Ivanti OEM partners will provide patch management functions in the future Avast Business CloudCare offered. This enables the process of patch distribution to be automated and significantly simplified. This component of the multi-layered Avast CloudCare security platform allows small and medium-sized companies as well as managed security service providers to use enterprise-class application protection in addition to end device protection, cloud backup and network security.
Only just under 31 percent fully patched
In 2019, Avast Business used its site security assessment tool for a study that checked the patch status of a total of 500.000 devices. Just 304 of them were 100 percent patched - less than one percent. With the addition of Ivanti patch management technology to Avast security products, SMBs and IT service providers now have access to a simple, centralized service that automatically identifies critical patches, prioritizes their deployment, and monitors the outcome to maintain security integrity.
Patch catalog currently secures over 180 million end devices
The Ivanti patch catalog is one of the most comprehensive in the industry and currently secures over 180 million devices worldwide. The catalog contains patches for Microsoft Windows as well as hundreds of vendors and products such as iTunes, Oracle, Java, Adobe Flash, Reader and many more. Thanks to the collaboration between Avast Business and Ivanti, SMEs and IT service providers can now benefit from this solution. It allows them to quickly identify vulnerabilities from the end device to the data center and to provide expertly tested patches for hundreds of third-party applications in advance.
The following Ivanti patch management features are available through the Avast Business Management Console and CloudCare
- Flexible deployment plans: IT teams can regularly schedule and roll out approved patches at the desired times, or deploy them manually to groups or individual devices
- Automatic scans: IT schedules patch scans to run automatically every 24 hours, for example. At the same time, the settings for patches can be defined so that they are automatically provided on the same day every week. These standard settings can be adjusted at any time.
- Intuitive dashboard: All software patches are managed via a dashboard. At the same time, graphical overviews of installed, missing or failed patches can be displayed from any device.
- Customizable Patches: The IT team can choose software vendors, products, the severity of patches to scan and install, and easily exclude certain applications.
- Master agent functions: Companies use them to download all missing patches to a master agent, which then distributes the patches seamlessly to all managed devices in the network.
- Patch scan results: Teams call up detailed results via the management platform. These include, for example, information about missing patches, severity levels, links to the knowledge base, release dates, descriptions, and more.
- Powerful reporting: This helps to easily determine the status and security of the device software thanks to a large number of easily configurable reports.
- Thousands of Patches: Teams patch Windows operating systems and thousands of other third-party software applications to provide complete protection.
