New USG-FLEX firewalls

Zyxel supports overburdened and inadequately equipped SMEs with an expanded portfolio of powerful firewalls. It is expanding its portfolio of USG-FLEX firewalls to include entry-level and high-end solutions for SMEs.

Zyxel Networks, a leading provider of secure, AI and cloud-based solutions, today announced the introduction of two new firewalls, USG FLEX 100W and USG FLEX 700, as well as firmware version ZLD 4.60, which offers relevant optimizations. Together, they offer SMBs the power and flexibility to protect themselves against sophisticated cyber threats and keep business operations going in the new reality.

According to ENISA's recently published 2020 Threat Landscape Report, the cybersecurity attack surface is expanding as a new phase of digital transformation begins. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digitization, with many companies moving to a full remote working model almost overnight to keep operations going. This rapid change in work practice has forced SMBs to act to ensure network security is maintained and limited budgets and resources are being used in the right places.

Growing USG-FLEX portfolio for SMEs

To expand the options for SMEs, Zyxel has introduced two new USG-FLEX firewalls as part of its comprehensive USG-FLEX series, including the USG FLEX 100W, an entry-level firewall with integrated WiFi function, and the USG FLEX 700, a high-end firewall that can manage up to 800 devices registered at the same time. In addition to robust, scalable network security for SMEs, the USG-FLEX series also offers VPN remote access, WiFi access point management and comprehensive hotspot functions in order to comprehensively meet business requirements.

Increased performance for SSL inspections

In addition, optimized functions of the ZLD-4.60 firmware offer an SSL inspection throughput that is three to five times faster than the previous version *. This means that users can increase their performance with their existing hardware, which increases the encryption / decryption performance and accelerates the issuing of certificates.

Reinforced security with the support of TLS 1.3

The improvements to the SSL inspection now also support the latest version of the Transport Layer Security Protocol (TLS) for securing Internet connections between servers and their clients. The support of the TLS 1.3 protocol offers Zyxel users more security, performance and data protection to protect themselves against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

Comprehensive reputation service

In addition to the existing IP and URL reputation services, ZLD 4.60 also offers a DNS reputation service provided by McAfee. These three services, available in Zyxel's ATP series, combine to form a comprehensive and robust solution that prevents users from visiting known domains that host malicious content and blocks access to certain websites. Corresponding analyzes can easily be managed in the Zyxel SecuReporter dashboard to support network administrators in keeping an overview of insecure domains, threats and query types.

"Today more than ever, SMBs are looking for effective ways to secure the long-term future of their company while managing a remote working network environment to stabilize operations in unpredictable times," said Nathan Yen, AVP of Gateway Business Unit from Zyxel. “The two new USG-FLEX firewalls and the improved functions of the ZLD-4.60 firmware guarantee this security. Regardless of their resources or budget, SMBs can now set up a strong, reliable and scalable gateway connectivity solution. "
