The German network infrastructure supplier LANCOM is continuing to upgrade its range of desktop firewalls. The LANCOM R & S®Unified Firewall UF-60 is the new entry-level model in the portfolio and already offers top-class cybersecurity for small companies, branches or home offices: from comprehensive Unified Threat Management (UTM) to the latest cybersecurity technologies such as sandboxing and machine learning .

With the generation change, the entry-level model offers the full range of functions of its big sisters for the first time: powerful SSL inspection for encrypted data traffic, protection against highly complex APT cyber attacks by the integrated R & S®PACE2 deep packet inspection engine as well as the precise classification of network traffic, protocols and applications and protection against data leaks and data loss (Data Loss Prevention, DLP) down to Layer-7.

To protect against malware and viruses, including zero-day exploits, suspicious files are analyzed in a shielded sandbox with the help of machine learning. The cloud service used for this is hosted in Germany and complies with European data protection guidelines. The next-generation firewall is designed for smaller offices, branches or branches and, with an IDS / IPS throughput of 700 Mbit / s, achieves more than three times the performance of its predecessor, the UF-50. It is therefore also suitable for use on gigabit connections.

Graphical user interface & cloud management

The intuitive web interface supports users in providing the highest level of cybersecurity. Human errors when configuring the firewall can be greatly reduced, since all firewall rules of the network are graphically displayed in a clear and easy-to-understand manner. This central management console in the browser enables both very good fine-tuning and a comprehensive overview of the implementation of company-wide security and compliance requirements.

The initial configuration is completed in a few minutes using a user-friendly installation wizard. In addition, the firewall can be connected to the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC) via a simple pairing process, which enables clear monitoring, including alarms about the device status, as well as remote configuration via the cloud.
