GTT expands managed security services portfolio. These offer comprehensive security coverage for both cloud and on-premise and hybrid environments.

GTT Communications, Inc., a leading global provider of cloud networking for multinational customers, announces that the company has expanded its portfolio of managed security services. By using the Next Generation Security Fabric from Fortinet, GTT can offer extended, software-defined functions. This includes Unified Threat Prevention (UTP) with various security functions such as application control, web filtering, virus protection, data loss prevention, intrusion detection and prevention.

Comprehensive security coverage

In addition, GTT has expanded its security service portfolio to include managed detection and response functions. These offer comprehensive security coverage for both cloud and on-premise and hybrid environments. The range of functions includes an extensive security tool suite with machine behavior analysis, embedded threat intelligence, 24/7 security monitoring and incident response. It is controlled by GTT's certified security experts in global security operation centers.

“We know that network security is a top priority for our customers in 2021,” said Don MacNeil, GTT COO. “GTT is focused on delivering managed security service capabilities that reduce complexity and ensure the security of always-on, anywhere access to applications and services. Because this is a key requirement that our customers place on digital business.”

Extended managed security service functions

GTT's extended managed security service functions offer companies comprehensive network security in times of increased IT security risks and threats. Because these continue to increase due to increasing remote work and the rapid introduction of cloud services. In combination with GTT's SD-WAN functions, the new Security Services offer a simple, secure and scalable solution that improves application performance, reduces operating costs and increases network agility.

The expansion of GTT's Managed Security Services portfolio lays the foundation for the development of GTT's Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions. This should combine cloud-based security tools with SD-WAN functionality for simplified and secure access to devices, applications and data resources outside of a company. GTT's current SASE roadmap includes "Zero Trust" network access, which extends work-from-anywhere solutions with discrete access controls for networks and cloud applications.

Important concept: security-driven networking

“Agile organizations respond to ever-changing business trends. They know that security-driven networking is an important concept to unify network functionality and security,” adds John Maddison, EVP of Products and CMO at Fortinet. “Enterprises are adopting this approach because it gives them the flexibility to deploy security measures quickly and efficiently anywhere, anytime. Security-driven networking is not only a new way of deploying security solutions – it will above all enable the advancement of digital innovation.”

"Security has become paramount to managing and operating enterprise networks as adoption of digital business and cloud applications accelerates," said Gary Barton, principal analyst for Telecom Services at GlobalData. "GTT's comprehensive approach to implementing advanced security features built into software-defined network elements is exactly what enterprises demand to ensure their networks operate securely and efficiently."
