Malwarebytes with Vulnerability Assessment and Patch Management

New features of Malwarebytes Nebula Cloud Console streamline threat management in a single cloud platform. Malwarebytes simplifies threat management with new modules for vulnerability assessment and patch management.

Malwarebytes, a global leader in real-time cyber protection, announces the addition of two new modules to its Nebula cloud-based endpoint protection platform: Vulnerability Assessment and Patch Management, both powered by OPSWAT. Together, these features make Malwarebytes' offering one of the simplest endpoint security platforms to help organizations prevent security breaches.

60 percent of attacks are due to vulnerabilities

Exploiting software vulnerabilities is one of the most common attack vectors: nearly 60 percent of security breaches are linked to a vulnerability for which no patch is available, according to a 2019 Ponemon study. This critical vulnerability poses a massive threat, especially to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that may not have dedicated IT or cybersecurity staff. Timely and comprehensive patch management and remediation is critical to improving security posture and reducing risk.

Malwarebytes addresses the software vulnerability threat vector with a solution designed specifically for the unique needs of SMBs. The addition of the Vulnerability Assessment and Patch Management modules enables the following:

  • Actionable Intelligence: Easily assess the threat landscape by automatically identifying and prioritizing software, operating system, and application vulnerabilities
  • Attack Surface Reduction: Improved patch response times to reduce attack window
Easy Deployment: No additional agent required to identify vulnerabilities on endpoints
  • Reports and Alerts: Expanded visibility into issues across environments so organizations know exactly what vulnerabilities exist and how to fix them
  • Better control: Customers can better and more actively manage their patching processes from start to finish

“Enterprises today have a complex digital ecosystem with a mix of modern and legacy third-party applications installed on both new and legacy devices and server operating systems. This complex operating environment makes it almost impossible to detect and actively remediate updates, leaving systems vulnerable,” said Mark Strassman, Chief Product Officer at Malwarebytes. "Our Vulnerability Assessment and Patch Management modules unburden IT teams by providing visibility while helping to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities to drastically reduce cybersecurity risk."

Prioritize vulnerabilities, reduce cybersecurity risk

"For 18 years, OPSWAT's cross-platform OESIS framework has helped software engineers and IT teams design and implement advanced endpoint security systems and infrastructure," said Hamid Karimi, VP of Technology Alliances & OEM at OPSWAT. "By integrating the OESIS framework into the new Vulnerability Assessment and Patch Management modules, Malwarebytes enables its customers to identify and remediate priority vulnerabilities in a comprehensive and streamlined manner."

The two offerings build on the already industry-leading capabilities of Malwarebytes' Nebula management platform. On the one hand, efficient and effective endpoint detection, protection and response require a comprehensive overview of a company's attack surfaces. On the other hand, they must also provide the ability to assess and prioritize threats based on their urgency and their potential impact on the organization's business. The Vulnerability Assessment and Patch Management modules from Malwarebytes contribute to this and ensure that customers can take quick action against risks. Existing Malwarebytes customers can now add the new modules by selecting the options in their Nebula Cloud console.

Cross-platform OESIS framework

The OESIS framework is a cross-platform, versatile, and modular software development kit (SDK) that enables software developers and technology providers to build advanced endpoint security products. Trusted by industry-leading Independent Software and Hardware Vendors (ISVs/IHVs) as a proven and patented technology solution, the framework is deployed to protect against cyberattacks across millions of endpoints.
