The current DsiN security index 2022 (Germany safe online) shows that 60 percent of consumers are not safe online. These are not only end users, but also a large number of employees in the home office who work on their own or company devices.

The DsiN Security Index 2022 on the IT security situation of onliners in Germany has been published. According to this, consumers are currently less protected against cyber attacks than in the past eight years. Attacks on the Internet, on the other hand, reached a new high. On average, two thirds of all consumers (60 percent) need additional help online.

More security incidents – stagnant level of protection

The DsiN Security Index 2022 is published every year by Deutschlandsicher im Netz eV (DsiN). With 59,8 points, the index shows a new low this year with a decrease of 2,9 index points compared to the previous year. This can be attributed to a sharp increase in the threat situation for consumers and a stagnating level of protection. In almost all areas surveyed, consumers complain about more security incidents. Two threats, scam and phishing via SMS, rise in the list of the top five threats. The strong increase in security incidents (+8,3 points) also means a new high of 43,4 index points. This significantly intensifies the threat situation for consumers.

There is also a need to catch up with “Artificial Intelligence”

Most users state that they know what is meant by the term artificial intelligence (AI) (59%). The picture is divided when it comes to assessing the opportunities of AI: around a quarter of those surveyed see the technology as an opportunity (28,5 percent), for 28,6 percent the risk of AI outweighs it. Udo Littke, Managing Director of Atos Germany, explains: "While this technology has long since found its way into everyday life, it is still unfamiliar "new territory" for many consumers - although the majority of them have basic knowledge, they still have sound knowledge and trust expandable.”
