The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry was the victim of a cyber attack. Currently, the homepage of the IHK only shows the note "Service currently not available" and refers to the page of the "DIHK - German Chamber of Industry and Commerce".
The Chamber of Industry and Commerce fell victim to a massive cyber attack. At least that's what Michael Bergmann, the general manager of the IHK Mittleres Ruhrgebiet, says via LinkedIn. He wrote there: “Hacker attack on the IHK organization. Unfortunately, a serious IT security incident occurred yesterday. The IHK organization was subjected to a massive cyber attack. As a security measure, all Internet connections were blocked immediately.
As a result, the website of the IHK Mittleres Ruhrgebiet cannot be reached and the communication channels via telephone and e-mail have been switched off. Accordingly, digital services are currently not available. At this point in time, we cannot foresee how long the measures will be necessary. Of course we are personally at your disposal.”
IHK website probably not available for a long time
Even though the Chamber of Industry and Commerce repeatedly gives its members tips on how to defend against cyber attacks, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce has now become a victim of an attack itself. The website probably still only shows the information that there is further information on the website of the DIHK - German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. There, however, one is limited to a short message:
“IT systems of the IHK organization shut down as a precaution. Due to a possible cyber attack, the IHK organization has shut down its IT systems as a precautionary measure for security reasons. We are currently working intensively on a solution and defense. The IT systems are successively started up after testing, so that the services are then available again for companies. We will inform you here and on other channels which applications are functional again. As soon as the security of our systems has been fully restored, you will of course also be informed.”
