Free Christmas upgrade with new features for ESET Cloud Office Security. ESET introduces advanced ransomware protection for Microsoft 365 users.

The IT security manufacturer ESET is giving its corporate customers a special Christmas present so that they can use Microsoft 365 even more securely. With the integration of so-called cloud sandboxing, ESET Cloud Office Security (ECOS) receives further protection against ransomware and previously unknown zero-day exploits. The newly built-in ESET Dynamic Threat Defense executes the attachments of incoming e-mails in a closed system and checks them for malicious behavior. In addition, new features expand the performance of the ESET solution. Customers with a valid ECOS license can now use the new version at no additional cost.

ESET Dynamic Threat Defense eliminates phishing, APTs and zero days

With ESET Dynamic Threat Defense (EDTD), the IT security expert presents another protective shield for the security solution ESET Cloud Office Security. The analysis of potentially dangerous and previously unknown binary code in a cloud sandbox offers additional protection against, for example, phishing attacks or ransomware attacks. Suspicious samples are sent automatically - or manually if necessary - to the ESET data center and its sandboxes. In the cloud, the sample is executed in physical and virtual environments, analyzed using various AI and machine learning algorithms, and the result of the behavioral analysis is secured using anti-evasive technologies. The result of the check is then made available to the organization - possible threats and thus also "patient zero" remain just outside the own perimeter.

User reports with quarantine approval

As soon as an email or other item is quarantined, employees will receive a notification with details of what and why it was quarantined. In the event of unauthorized spam detection, the user can now release the email from the quarantine instead of the administrator. The prerequisite for this, however, is that the administrator trusts the employee, assigns appropriate rights and activates the notification function.

Quarantine Manager

An administrator can review objects in quarantine and decide whether to delete or release them. This function provides easy management of emails and files that have been moved to this protected area by ESET Cloud Office Security. In addition, the IT manager can download quarantined objects and examine them locally with other additional tools. In this way it can be ensured whether the suspicious file actually represents a threat or whether it is possibly a false alarm.

If the administrator has released an email or file from quarantine, the actual recipient will receive it in their Microsoft 365 inbox or in their OneDrive or Teams. At the same time, the email / file is whitelisted so that the next time it is received, the object is not placed in quarantine (for this specific user). If the worst comes to the worst, administrators can remove this email or file from the whitelist.

Managed Service Provider: New clients fully secured in five minutes

The multi-client capability of ECOS is one of the most important administrative functions. Managed Service Providers can add an unlimited number of tenants to ESET Cloud Office Security and manage them from a single console. One of the main advantages of this product is the simplicity of the initial installation. If the customer has access to Microsoft 365 management and has an authorized ECOS license, the managed service provider only needs five minutes to connect ESET Cloud Office Security to Microsoft 365 and start the protection.
