Endpoint security: 19 solutions tested in the laboratory

AV TEST News

In May and June 2021, the AV-TEST Institute tested a total of 40 security solutions - and thus almost all important programs on the market - for private users and companies under Windows 10. 19 products are pure company solutions.

All products tested in the laboratory were checked in 3 test areas: 'protection' (protection), 'system load' (performance) and 'usability' (usability). The laboratory uses a points system to make it easier to compare the solutions. AV-TEST awards up to 6 points for each test area. The best rated products therefore have 18 points. If a product achieves 17,5 or 18 points, it receives the “TOP Product” award in addition to the safety certification.

20.000 real malware attacks - per product

Each individual program had to fend off over 20.000 real malware attacks, whereby all protective functions such as URL / web filters, behavior-based detection and heuristics were taken into account in the test against zero-day threats and widespread malware. In the counter-check, over a million benign websites and files were checked that should not be recognized (false alarm test)
