In a concerted action with other international authorities, Finnish customs confiscated the server of the Finnish darknet drug marketplace “Piilopuoti” and is starting data and “customer” evaluation.

Finnish customs, in cooperation with foreign authorities, confiscated the “Piilopuoti” web server and seized the contents of the server. The web server had been operating on the Tor network since 2022. The Finnish-language website where vendors sold narcotics went live on May 18, 2022. It operated as a hidden service in the encrypted Tor network. The site was used for anonymous criminal activities and as a platform for trafficking in narcotics. As a rule, the goods sold on the website were smuggled into Finland from abroad.

International cooperation

The criminal investigation is still ongoing. At this time, Finnish Customs and its international cooperation partners will not provide any further information on this matter.

During the preliminary investigation into this case, Finnish customs worked closely with German and Lithuanian authorities, as well as with Europol, the European Union Agency for Cooperation in Criminal Matters (Eurojust), authorities in other countries and various police units in Finland. Bitdefender provided technical advice to the investigative authorities involved.
