At the third CyberSec & AI Connected 2021 conference this year, the focus is on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in relation to future cybersecurity for consumers and their privacy protection on the Internet. The annual conference will take place virtually on November 4th and 5th, 2021. The aim of the event is to bring science and industry together to meet the challenges of the digital world in the areas of cybersecurity and data protection. This year the conference is organized by Avast, the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) and the Private AI Collaborative Research Institute of the Technical University Darmstadt.

The program includes lectures by top-class scientists from renowned research institutions: including Alessandro Acquisti, data protection economist and professor of information technology and public order at the Heinz College of Carnegie Mellon University, the keynote speaker Dawn Song, professor of computer science at UC Berkeley, and Emiliano De Cristofaro, Professor of Security and Privacy Technology at University College London. A highlight is the panel discussion that will deal with the effects of AI on the handling of personal data. The availability of huge data sets through cloud solutions as well as enormous computing capacities have recently led to significant developments in the field of machine learning. However, this progress has also led to higher data protection requirements and increased leaks in personal data. Panellists include anti-abuse researcher David Freeman from Facebook, Professor Reza Shokri from the National University in Singapore and Apostolos Malatras from the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity. You will not only discuss the ethical dimensions of handling data, but also what companies that systematically collect data can do to protect sensitive information. The panel discussion will be moderated by Miroslav Umlauf, Chief Data Officer at Avast.
