Comprehensive cloud networking solution for SMEs and MSPs: Zyxel complements Nebula with the USG FLEX firewall series. Location-independent network access with comprehensive security. Simple, uniform and efficient network management - for access points, switches and firewalls from Zyxel.

Zyxel Networks, a leading provider of secure, AI and cloud-based business and home network solutions, is introducing the USG FLEX series of firewalls to its cloud networking platform Nebula. The USG-FLEX firewalls - expanded with the newly released firmware version ZLD5.0 - complement the Nebula portfolio with a robust and intelligent network security component. This makes Nebula the most comprehensive cloud network solution for SMEs and MSPs on the market.

Secure connectivity for remote workers

The restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic have challenged companies to provide secure connectivity to network resources and equipment for remote workers outside of the main office. Among other things, this led to more effort in terms of administration, monitoring and support for the new way of working, which also offers an enlarged attack surface for cyber criminals.

The updates to 'Nebula Together' offer a comprehensive portfolio of high-performance, easy-to-use and Nebula-compatible wireless access points, network switches and firewalls. Multiple networks in different locations can be managed, monitored and secured from a single intuitive platform.

Cooperative approach to complex security threats

As part of Nebula, the USG-FLEX firewalls offer a centralized approach to a company's zero-trust network security. With this addition, network administrators receive rule-based security policies that can detect anomalies with anti-malware, intrusion detection prevention (IDP) and URL threat filtering. If the firewalls identify a threat on one of the connected clients, they automatically synchronize with the Nebula Control Center and pass on all relevant security guidelines to all access points (AP) of the company at the network location. The corresponding client at the network edge is blocked or quarantined in order to contain the threat and prevent further damage.

Location-independent network access and comprehensive security

Network administrators can use the same security guidelines in all networks - regardless of whether the employees access the network in the office, at home or even in hotels or cafés.

With the remote AP function, companies can provide their employees outside the office with secure, wireless access to the company network. Administrators can quickly and easily preconfigure access points to set up secure, encrypted tunnels between remote locations and a USG-FLEX firewall in the office. When the preconfigured AP is connected to the Internet at the remote location, it automatically creates a secure connection to the office so that the user can access the corporate network as if he were in the office.

Network management simple, uniform and efficient

The integrations of 'Nebula Together' offer administrators greater network transparency and enable the location-independent configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting of networks via the intuitive single-pane-of-glass dashboard. With access to all networks and devices managed by Nebula, network managers - through access via web browser or a smartphone app - are able to manage multi-tenancy architectures and individual networks on a single platform. This makes it possible to offer users a consistent, uniform and more efficient experience, to reduce on-site maintenance and to minimize downtimes.

“Restrictions in the COVID-19 pandemic have fueled the rapid shift to remote work. Many industry analysts believe that this new work reality will persist after the pandemic, ”said Gordon Yang, President of Zyxel Networks. “The requirement to enable access to the corporate network outside of the office creates a multitude of new challenges for SMBs and MSPs who now have to support these distributed networks. 'Nebula Together' removes the complexity of managing multiple networks and provides centralized security to provide SMBs and MSPs with a complete managed networking solution that was previously only affordable for large companies.
