The cloud security provider Bitglass has presented its Cloud Security Report 2020, which examines the extent to which companies have taken appropriate cloud security precautions.
Bitglass worked with a leading cyber security community and interviewed IT and security professionals to find out what their security concerns are and to learn more about the steps companies are taking to protect data in the cloud.
Public cloud security at risk
Almost all respondents (93 percent) said they were moderately to extremely concerned about the security of the public cloud. The results of the survey suggest that many companies have difficulty using cloud-based resources securely: Only 31 percent use data loss prevention solutions in the cloud, although the fear of data loss is one of the biggest concerns for 66 percent Cloud security matters. In addition, many companies are unable to continuously establish transparency in the cloud for file downloads (45 percent) and uploads (50 percent), as well as for violations of data loss prevention guidelines (50 percent) and external releases (55 Percent).
Insufficient security tools in use
According to the Cloud Security Report 2020, many companies continue to try to ensure secure use of the cloud with firewalls (44 percent), network encryption (36 percent) or network monitoring (26 percent), although 82 percent of respondents are aware that these are legacy -Tools are less suitable than security solutions specially developed for the cloud.
