As ZDF.de reports, a hacker in China is said to have captured the data of 1 billion Chinese citizens. Apparently the data was put up for sale. Whether they are real is still unconfirmed.
A hacker has according to ZDF.de himself stated that he stole the records of 1 billion citizens in China. As a small proof, he is said to have published 750.000 data sets on the Internet. It should then be possible to find information such as name, cell phone number, ID card number, address and birthday for each data record.
Apparently, all the data was offered on the Darknet for around 200.000 euros (10 Bitcoins) and has probably been since the end of June. But experts have only now found the offer. The fact that this data exists is internationally undisputed, since China has recorded its citizens fully digitally. But whether the existing data is identical remains to be seen.
Data not yet verifiable
Apparently, the AFP news agency and experts have already been able to prove the authenticity of some data sets. But I still have to show whether all data sets are authentic and whether there really are 1 billion data sets.
