ESET Cloud Office Security gets new functions for Microsoft 365. Extended security now also for Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. The European IT security manufacturer ESET has significantly expanded the functionality of its security solution for protecting Microsoft 365.

In addition to Exchange Online and OneDrive, ESET Cloud Office Security (ECOS) now also comprehensively protects Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. All users who already use ECOS receive the functionalities automatically and free of charge. The independent software-as-a-service solution relies on the award-winning mix of anti-malware scanning, anti-phishing and spam filtering. The main focus is on the scanning of e-mails, attachments as well as shared and saved files in OneDrive, SharePoint or Microsoft Teams for preventive protection against malware.

Preventive protection against malware

“With ESET Cloud Office Security, companies will secure distributed work structures in a comprehensive and resource-saving way. The use of an IT security solution is essential, especially when using cloud-based co-working tools such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Teams. This is the only way to avoid potential risks for the IT infrastructure and to really guarantee the security of company data, ”says Michael Schröder, Security Business Strategy Manager at ESET Deutschland GmbH.

More security for Microsoft Teams and SharePoint

Thanks to the new functions, ESET completely secures communication, collaboration and data processing in Microsoft 365. The tools teams most used in everyday life and their file storage locations SharePoint / OneDrive now have comprehensive protection against all kinds of threats. This minimizes negative effects from unwanted messages to infected files and maintains productivity.

ESET Cloud Office Security virtually replaces the functionalities of file and mail server security solutions, which from now on are operated in a hybrid or holistic manner in the cloud. In the sense of "Multi Secured Endpoints", the product offers seamless integration with ESET Endpoint Security products and the ESET PROTECT management console. However, it can also be used completely independently of this if customers have chosen another solution to secure their endpoints.

New reporting on analyzes

New emails are first sent for analysis and then back to Microsoft 365 or, if they are dangerous, to the administrator (Image: ESET).

With the help of the integrated reporting on malware finds and e-mail analyzes, reports suitable for management can be quickly generated in PDF format. The statistical information for protecting Exchange Online and OneDrive includes the number of emails, files, malware detected, phishing and spam scanned for the specified period. The data is presented in the form of a diagram: for example, the long-term average in comparison, information on the data traffic for each protection type or the recipients that contain the most malware, phishing and spam. You can set up and schedule recurring reports and define email recipients. Report templates with user-defined settings simplify reporting for IT managers.

About ESET Cloud Office Security

The ESET Software-as-a-Service solution provides an additional layer of protection for Microsoft 365 cloud email and storage. It ensures that all team members feel reassured by automatically protecting user mailboxes. The anti-malware protection reacts to all file changes in OneDrive and SharePoint, which minimizes the risk of malware spreading to other devices.

ESET Cloud Office Security gives you complete control and visibility of threats with instant notification when malware is detected. A user-friendly web console helps IT administrators manage and take immediate action in the event of a hazard. They can be accessed from anywhere.
