In the new update for the ransomware protection for backups Blocky for Veeam® 2.5 with there is now an additional user-independent password protection.
Cristie Data and GRAU DATA, who have had a close technology partnership since September 2019, are jointly presenting the latest version Blocky for Veeam® 2.5. The ransomware protection prevents the backup data from being encrypted and, in its new version, offers additional security features, including unauthorized access at administrator level. With an extended, integrated password security, companies can be sure that unauthorized actions are also prevented from the administration console. Even after the administrator has logged in, critical core functions, such as uninstalling or switching off the ransomware protection, can only be triggered with an additional and independent password. The Blocky Update 2.5 is now available at Cristie Data.
“The backup is the last line of defense against ransomware. Only if the backup remains unaffected by criminal activities can our customers reliably restore their data and thus not only avoid the ransom demand, but also ensure reliable business continuity, ”explains Volker Wester, Managing Director at Cristie Data. "With the additional updates, our customers have even greater security, also from within."
Blocky ransomware protection based on WORM technology
The GRAU DATA ransomware protection Blocky for Veeam® provides reliable protection for data backups against criminal data encryption. The software is suitable for companies of all sizes and can be easily integrated into existing environments - scalable, flexible and independent of existing IT infrastructures. The basis is the tried and tested GRAU DATA WORM technology. With specially adapted rights, only the backup application is allowed to change backup data. All other programs including ransomware are denied any access. The backup software must identify itself with a secure fingerprint to back up data. Blocky only allows write access to the data if the unique fingerprint matches the stored reference. All other applications, especially malware, are blocked by the filter. The ransomware thus encounters WORM-protected backup data and has no chance of manipulation or encryption.
