In June, baramundi software AG publishes the new release of the baramundi Management Suite (bMS). The comprehensive Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) has again received numerous improvements and extensions - including support for the detection of Linux end devices, a standard update profile and a number of new self-service options.

With the new release, devices that support the Secure Shell (SSH) network protocol can now also be recorded. SSH supplements the existing recording via SNMP or ARP protocol and thus also enables the detection and recording of devices that use a version of the LINUX operating system. This means that end devices in the network that previously had to be included in the administration manually can now also be recorded automatically.

Informed faster: Argus Cockpit

With the new Argus Cockpit notifications, IT admins can be informed early on about critical status changes by e-mail. To do this, they only have to configure the threshold values of the UDG filters accordingly and activate the e-mail notifications individually. These threshold configurations can now also be reset and changed at any time. In addition, notifications for bMS services and (expiring) reporting API keys have also been made possible, so that those responsible for IT can be informed more quickly in the event of irregularities in bMS operation.

Improved update management

The new version of the bMS now has a standard update profile. This can be specified as a global standard in the system, which is initially assigned to all new endpoints. Admins can thus create update jobs in highly standardized environments much more easily and provide new devices with important updates more quickly. Conversely, Microsoft updates that cause errors or problems can now also be uninstalled much more easily: The expansion of the "Manage Microsoft updates" function enables targeted removal of individual updates or even entire update packages until an error-free version of the update is available.

Enhanced user-friendliness of the self-service kiosk

In addition to the dark mode for the baramundi kiosk that many customers are eagerly awaiting, the new release also offers numerous detailed improvements for the usability of the self-service portal. Not only can several (installation) tasks be assigned to a device at the same time, but also tasks, so-called jobs, to multiple endpoints simultaneously. End users can e.g. For example, you can install the same application on both your Surface Tablet and your Office PC in just one step.

Other innovations in ticketing, user interface, et al.

In addition to various security-related improvements, the bMS 2022 also includes other innovations: The baramundi ticketing system is now fully translated into English. All templates can thus be selected depending on the desired language, thus facilitating communication with end users. The user interface of the bMS has also been supplemented with numerous comfort functions, e.g. B. a new quick search and object tab list. New functions are also available for managing Android apps. Apps can now be managed on their own page. This means that web apps can be managed just as easily as company-owned Android apps, which can be released directly from the bMC for your own environment without detours via a developer account.
