The new integration of TeamViewer in Microsoft Teams enables remote access and supports augmented reality applications within teams.

TeamViewer, provider of secure remote connectivity solutions, announces a new integration with Microsoft Teams. Users can use it to start TeamViewer remote support and augmented reality (AR) connections from within Microsoft Teams.

“Staying productive while working remotely has never been more important than it is today,” said Alfredo Patron, Executive VP of Business Development at TeamViewer. “Microsoft Teams is used by a wide variety of companies around the world for online meetings, teamwork, and more. With the integrated remote access function via TeamViewer and the AR support, Microsoft Teams users have additional opportunities for collaboration regardless of their location and can thus increase their productivity.

Extended options for remote teams

Microsoft Teams as a platform offers a variety of different communication options and brings with it all the necessary tools for working remote teams. Users can now download the TeamViewer app from the Microsoft Teams Apps Store. After logging into your TeamViewer account, you can invite colleagues to individual or group conversations for remote control or AR sessions in TeamViewer. In this way, they work together more efficiently and can support each other remotely in the event of problems if you just have to briefly get a picture of the problem. If a malfunction affects a physical object, AR helps: With TeamViewer Pilot, users can connect between a PC and a mobile device or between two smartphones and get an impression of the situation on site by looking through the smartphone camera.

Both participants have the opportunity to use markings and freehand drawings to highlight special points in order to guide them through the individual work steps, as well as to share files with one another, insert texts and chat. Product teams also work more efficiently thanks to TeamViewer's intuitive access control, as they can share access to all necessary devices and environments directly with the other members of their workgroups. The key to an intuitive user experience and higher productivity is therefore available directly in Microsoft Teams.

TeamViewer dashboard for active sessions

After the integration of TeamViewer, Microsoft Teams users can manage their device groups, share them with other team members and use their TeamViewer dashboard as a personal tab for an overview of all active sessions and the connection history. It also includes a helpful user guide. To be able to use these functions, companies need a Microsoft Teams license and a compatible TeamViewer license.
