When companies choose a protection solution, that investment will last for a long time. It is therefore all the more important to know which solution provides the best protection in a long-term test. AV-TEST tested 16 endpoint security products for Windows clients for 6 months.

In the current endurance test, the AV-TEST laboratory examined the wide range of 2020 endpoint security solutions for companies from July to December 16. The long-term test quickly shows how well the most important component, endpoint security, of a protection solution, works. The laboratory subjected all solutions to standardized tests in the areas of protection, system load and usability. All products were tested in an endurance test every month in the named test categories. So there were a total of 6 test rounds, which are summarized in the results.

Endurance test: 16 Windows B2B protection solutions

Each protection solution can achieve up to 6 points per category, for a total of 18. The endpoint security products from Kaspersky, Microsoft, Symantec and Trend Micro finished the test with this top score. F-Secure is just behind with 17,8 points. The products from AhnLab, ESET, Bitdefender, Avast, G Data and McAfee follow with very good 17,7 to 17,5 points. In the further field, Seqrite follow with 17,3 and Sophos with 17 points. After that, the score fell further: Bitdefender 16,5, FireEye 16,4, VMware 15,0 points.

Very good endpoint security solutions

The current endurance test over 6 months, from July to December 2020, presents a whole range of secure security solutions for companies. Even over such a long test period, the endpoint security packages from Kaspersky, Microsoft, Symantec and Trend Micro achieved the maximum number of points in all test sections and thus a total of 18 points. F-Secure, AhnLab, ESET and Bitdefender follow very closely with 17,8 to 17,6 points.

The other products from Avast, G Data and McAfee score 17,5 points and therefore also have a very high level of security. This means that 11 of the 16 tested solutions achieve almost the maximum of the achievable points.
