Proactive data protection through SmartScan

CyberRes, a division of Micro Focus, announces a new version of Voltage File Analysis Suite (FAS), a cloud solution that combines the latest advances in data discovery and data protection.

Included is the new SmartScan tool for intelligent sampling and dynamic tagging for petabyte-scale data discovery, enabling data analysts to more quickly identify areas of higher data risk.

"CyberRes' new Voltage File Analysis Suite combines data discovery and protection capabilities in a single solution - a critical advance in data security," said Reiner Kappenberger, director of product management, Voltage Data Privacy and Protection. “As a SaaS solution, it has the necessary scalability to meet the requirements of each user for their database. In addition, the dynamic tool Voltage SmartScan provides the necessary resources to examine the data infrastructure more closely and take more targeted protective measures.”

Targeted protection measures for data infrastructure

Voltage FAS is not bound by geographic or political boundaries. Users can therefore implement and comply with compliance standards for the growing number of data protection regulations worldwide. The solution amplifies global privacy awareness through dynamic data masking and contextual entity recognition for more than 39 countries and economic regions.

With the new release, Voltage FAS is now also available as a Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) offering, which goes hand-in-hand with its availability as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution. The solution is suitable for cloud, on-premise and all hybrid models as it collects and manages the data on-site. Because some countries require local data storage for companies, Voltage FAS can also be deployed in private clouds. Companies can thus effectively retrieve and protect their sensitive data without having to leave the respective environment.

Easier to comply with data protection regulations

The new version of Voltage FAS also gets high marks from end users: “The File Analysis Suite plays a central role in our environment. Not only does it help us comply with Turkey's Data Protection Regulation and PCI/DSS, but it also helps us identify other critical/sensitive data that should be protected,” said Olcay Nisanoglu, IT Operations Director at BELBIM. “Since this project was a top priority for the management team, we tackled it immediately. Thanks to the functionality of SmartScan coupled with the File Analysis Suite, all critical folders were identified quickly, allowing us to efficiently focus on those areas.”

Voltage FAS data discovery capabilities can drill deeper and farther into unstructured datasets than most others on the market. Voltage FAS supports 1.000+ file types and ingests the most popular sources for unstructured data and collaboration platforms on-premises and in the cloud, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Exchange, Azure file and object storage, Google Workspaces, SMB (Samba), Amazon S3- Object storage as well as other sources via a custom connector API. Voltage FAS also includes the latest OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology, which allows users to capture sensitive data in images, such as B. scans of ID cards and contracts.
