Bitdefender has released its new consumer product line. The new generation of the consumer suite offers the best possible protection for the currently tense cybersecurity situation, also with regard to the use of private end devices in the home office.

Bitdefender today introduces its new version of the cross-platform product line for home users. The new release offers a reinforced vulnerability engine for the identification of weak points, which has been further optimized in view of the currently particularly challenging situation during the pandemic, as well as improvements in the areas of data protection and ransomware. In addition, the user interface has been revised and made more user-friendly. Bitdefender now also offers Premium VPN as a stand-alone solution. Up until now it was only available as an upgrade as part of an anti-virus solution. Bitdefender is a global leader in cybersecurity solutions protecting over 500 million systems in 150 countries.

500 percent increase in malware attacks during the pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has made our world more vulnerable than ever to attack. Bitdefender detected a 500% increase in Covid-19 themed malware attacks aimed at compromising unwary users in March alone. Thus, the new generation of the Bitdefender end-user line has been further developed to meet this “new normal” with comprehensive protection and ease of use – while at the same time having a minimal impact on the performance of the devices.

The cross-platform product line for private users has been awarded again year after year by independent testing institutes, computer experts and users. The new generation of the solution that has just been presented offers significant improvements in malware detection. The improved vulnerability scan function supports users in identifying and remedying risks for devices and data. In addition, protection against so-called "fileless attacks" has been expanded. These are attacks that only operate in the main memory or in other areas that are difficult to check and try to bypass file scanning technologies.

Bitdefender expects a lot from the new product line

"After long, intensive research and keeping an eye on the latest developments during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have once again significantly evolved our established end-user product line," said Ciprian Istrate, vice president of Bitdefender's end-user solutions. “Bitdefender's aim has always been to provide users with the best possible protection while diverting as little performance as possible from their systems. This has worked particularly well with the latest generation.”
