Dynatrace offers a solution for cloud application security for the first time. New platform module increases continuous runtime application security for production and preproduction environments, optimized for Kubernetes and DevSecOps.

The software intelligence company Dynatrace enters the cloud application security market. To this end, the company has added a new module to its industry-leading software intelligence platform: The new Dynatrace® Application Security Module offers continuous Runtime Application Self-Protection (RASP) functions for applications in production and preproduction and is suitable for Kubernetes. Architectures and DevSecOps approaches optimized. This module now also provides the automation, AI, scalability and stability of the Dynatrace Software Intelligence Platform for modern cloud RASP use cases in large companies. Dynatrace customers can start the module with the push of a button. In this way, the world's leading companies currently using the Dynatrace platform will instantly increase their security coverage and accuracy.

No more blind spots

"Dynatrace Application Security offers complete runtime detection," said Julien Bourteele, Stelliant's chief information security officer. “This makes us feel much safer because the solution ensures that we don't have any blind spots and that we don't waste time looking for false positives. That helps us to innovate faster and with more self-confidence. "

IDC estimates that 90 percent of new enterprise applications worldwide will be cloud-native by 2022. Agile methods and API-controlled architectures are used that use microservices, containers and serverless functions. Traditional approaches to application security cannot keep up in these constantly changing environments. Although organizations have already invested in a wide variety of tools to address security threats, there are still blind spots and uncertainties about the risks and their impact on cloud-native applications. When vulnerabilities are discovered, current approaches require manual processes that provide inaccurate risk and impact analyzes. In doing so, they force the teams to waste time looking for false positives. In addition, accelerated innovation and DevSecOps processes have postponed security testing earlier, giving developers more responsibility for ensuring that the code is free from vulnerabilities. Because teams do not have time to manually analyze, assess, and manage risks based on spot checks or planned scan results, even the most common and best-documented vulnerabilities can go undetected and exploited by hackers.

$ 18 billion market

Dynamic cloud-native environments have revolutionized application security, creating a market that is estimated to grow to as high as $ 18 billion over time. Dynatrace® Application Security was specifically designed to meet these challenges and enables DevSecOps teams to innovate at the speed the company demands while ensuring security. By combining automated RASP capabilities with the strengths of the Dynatrace platform, Dynatrace Application Security enables companies to:

  • Precise identification of weak points in production and preproduction environments. This also applies to their impact and business priorities. In addition, there is the elimination of false positives with topology mapping in real-time by Smartscape® and distributed tracing with code-level analysis by PurePath®.
  • Complete coverage of vulnerabilities thanks to automatic and continuous detection and instrumentation by OneAgent®. In this way, companies never miss a code change or a new deployment.
  • Drastically accelerate risk and impact analysis, remedial action and collaboration with Davis ™ AI assistance. This enables the automatic and continuous identification of changes, the prioritization of alerts and precise answers about the source, type and severity of weak points.
  • Providing detailed, high quality vulnerability information through built-in integration with Snyk Intel. It exposes the insights required to clean up potentially compromised code.

More transparency for DevSecOps teams

"With Dynatrace Application Security, our DevSecOps teams finally get the one hundred percent transparency across the production runtime that they need to remedy weak points in our Kubernetes environment," says Jürgen Plasser, Application Security Management at Raiffeisen Software GmbH. “With the topology-driven and precise risk assessment of Dynatrace in real time, we can consciously use our energy where it is important for the company. This prevents wasted time processing thousands of false positives. "

Application Security combines infrastructure monitoring, application and microservices monitoring, digital experience monitoring, business analytics and cloud automation as part of the Dynatrace® Software Intelligence Platform.
