Tenable announces an innovative feature that enables IT teams to continuously view and secure cloud computing instances.

Tenable today announced a pioneering solution that enables customers to instantly and continuously evaluate their cloud computing instances without the need for additional software. With this, companies will now be able to confidently take advantage of modern, cloud-first environments, without the need for vulnerability management programs to require regular scans or even agent-based approaches.

The current work-from-home economy has significantly accelerated cloud adoption and created new IT security challenges as employees in their home offices log into the corporate network with additional devices. The cloud requires purpose-built sensors that leverage native technology to perform instant, continuous, and efficient assessments and provide end-to-end visibility.

Pioneering approach to vulnerability management

Tenable's Frictionless Assessment is a pioneering approach to vulnerability management for modern assets. The solution uses native technologies that are used as part of the cloud system to continuously examine instances for vulnerabilities. Customers are able to assess cloud resources without interruption and quickly identify new vulnerabilities as their environment changes, without ever having to schedule a scan or use an agent. This feature will initially be rolled out on Amazon Web Services (AWS), using AWS Systems Manager Run Command to allow users to securely manage the configuration of their cloud instances remotely without disruption. Since the lifespan of cloud workloads is usually measured in hours, Tenable developed Frictionless Assessment to solve a key challenge, namely to achieve and maintain accurate visibility of cyber risks across all cloud-based resources.

Frictionless Assessment for Cloud Computing

"Cloud computing is a whole new approach, as is frictionless assessment," said Renaud Deraison, Tenable's chief technology officer and co-founder. “Customers can set up a complete vulnerability management program in seconds and get actionable results for the assets and workloads in their AWS cloud environment in minutes. We enable organizations to invest in the cloud with confidence with a risk-aware approach, focusing on the highest priority vulnerabilities that pose the greatest risk to the organization, freeing up time to manage scans, agents and software,” says Deraison. Frictionless Assessment for AWS will be available to Tenable.io customers in Q2020 XNUMX.
