Kaspersky receives recertification from TÜV Austria

Kaspersky has pushed ahead with the relocation of cyber threat-related user data and the corresponding data has now also been processed in Switzerland since March. Furthermore, a transparency report reports on the company's approach to handling data requests.

At the same time, the company's commitment to following the best data security practices was confirmed by the re-certification of the advanced Kaspersky data service by TÜV AUSTRIA. As part of this, the company has also released information about the requests for data and technical know-how from government and law enforcement agencies as well as users in the second half of 2021.

These actions reflect the company's ongoing commitment to greater transparency, implemented as part of the Global Transparency Initiative (GTI). Kaspersky set the benchmark for digital trust in its industry with the launch of the GTI in 2017, also becoming the first cybersecurity vendor to make its source code available for review. Kaspersky is committed to being a trusted partner for its users and to date is one of the few international IT vendors striving to make transparency an industry standard and taking steps towards greater accountability.

International commitment to cyber security

Since March 2022, Kaspersky has been storing malicious and suspicious files from users in Latin America and the Middle East, which were previously processed by facilities in Russia, in Zurich data centers. In previous years, this data storage shift had already been completed for Europe, North America and a number of Asia Pacific countries. The Swiss data centers offer first-rate facilities that meet the leading industry standards, so Kaspersky users can be confident in the security of their data.

Transparency: data processing in Switzerland

In addition, Kaspersky has renewed its ISO 27001 certification, issued by the independent certification body TÜV AUSTRIA, which is the internationally recognized security standard. In addition to the audit passed in 2020, the scope of the certification has been expanded this time and now includes not only the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) system for secure storage and access to malicious and suspicious files (called KLDFS), but also the KSN systems for processing statistics (called KSNBuffer database).

Compliance with ISO/IEC 27001:2013 – the internationally recognized industry best practice and security standard – is at the core of Kaspersky's approach to implementing and managing information security. The certification, granted by the accredited body TÜV AUSTRIA, demonstrates the company's commitment to strong information security and adherence to industry-leading data service and information security practices. The document is publicly available both in the TÜV AUSTRIA certificate directory and on the Kaspersky website.

New edition of the transparency report

Kaspersky has developed a consistent practice of disclosing information about how the company handles data requests, and regularly publishes the Law Enforcement and Government Requests report, which discloses data in two categories: user data and technical know-how. The latest report looks at this type of data in the second half of 2021.

In the second half of 2021, Kaspersky received 109 requests from governments and law enforcement agencies in 36 countries. At least 92 percent of these were rejected because either no data was available or the necessary legal requirements were not met. XNUMX of the requests received in the second half of last year concerned technical expertise.
