Ivanti extends the automated management of end devices and workspaces. The new Unified Endpoint Management functions for remote and mobile workers include patch automation, agentless vulnerability analysis and advanced remote control options.

Ivanti has announced new features for the Ivanti Unified Endpoint Manager and User Workspace Manager. The updates extend endpoint management for Windows, Android, Mac, iOS and Linux devices. IT teams are empowered to provide end users with a personalized and contextualized application experience.

Robust support for all types of devices

"At Ivanti, we drive innovations that deliver better experiences for users and better results for businesses," said Alan Braithwaite, senior director of product management at Ivanti. “Our latest versions of Unified Endpoint Manager and User Workspace Manager further simplify IT management. At the same time, they offer robust support for devices of all types that can be secured and controlled via a central, intuitive console regardless of where and how company data is accessed. In combination with the hyper-automation of Ivanti Neurons, the advanced solutions enable an autonomous self-healing edge. "

The Unified Endpoint Manager 2020.1 Service Update 2 improves location-independent control of devices by IT teams and automated IT security. The new functions support end devices regardless of whether they are company-owned or private devices (BYOD) and whether they work via private, public or company networks.

The improvements in Unified Endpoint Manager in detail

  • Patch automation and agentless vulnerability scanning optimize the protection of end devices to improve the overall security situation in the company, regardless of where the users work.
  • The improved MacOS and iOS management gives administrators more control. This includes the iOS portal, Apple Business Manager apps and books in the portal, switching the activation lock on and off, MDM registration of QR codes for iOS devices, the option of using the EPM agent with an MDM package reset, and the simplified support of the Apple Push Notification Service (APNS).
  • Remote control updates now include the full screen function and keyboard-controlled switching between applications via Alt + Tab for simplified support in the event of support.
  • Improved Linux remote management and agent settings allow administrators to remotely manage Linux devices without the need for a VPN. Additional functions include inventory planning, software distribution management, and integration with the Ivanti Patch Manager.
  • Enhanced Modern Device Management (MDM) simplifies the MDM user interface and registration process for end users on Android, macOS and iOS devices.

The Ivanti User Workspace Manager 2020.2 has also been further developed to offer a Windows experience that adapts to the environment regardless of location. Building on the core functions of the User Workspace Manager, the extended solution offers new functions for improved management of digital work environments. They concern the areas of user personalization, application control, rights management and file and data synchronization.

Improvements to the Ivanti User Workspace Manager

  • A Windows start menu designer, synchronization of Windows settings via VPN and on-demand functions to increase Windows 10 privileges
