New backup system for fast data protection. Intra2net introduces differential backup with a new release.

The groupware and security specialist Intra2net (www.intra2net.com) is introducing a new backup system for the Intra2net Business Server. In the course of the new release 6.9.0, differential data backups are now supported. This significantly shortens the time required, especially with larger data volumes, since a daily full backup is no longer required. The differential backups only contain the changes since the last full backup. The update to version 6.9.0 is available immediately.

Much higher throughput rates

Customers who regularly back up a large amount of email and groupware data benefit from the new backup system. The speed of data backup can be increased by a factor of eight with the differential backup. On the basis of an Intra2net Appliance Pro, throughput rates of around 50 GB / h are achieved on average for creating full backups, while differential backups reach over 400 GB / h equivalent (benchmarks with activated compression and without encryption).

“Users now have the option of creating a full data backup every weekend outside of business hours. Several differential backups can then be carried out on working days. This ensures a high level of data security and integrity in accordance with GDPR requirements without affecting productivity, ”explains Steffen Jarosch, CEO of Intra2net AG.

Secure backup encryption based on AES-128-GCM

In order to further increase data security, Intra2net also offers new and audited backup encryption with Release 6.9.0. The crypto procedure used is based on AES-128-GCM encryption and thus follows the current BSI recommendations. The new backup system also includes the prediction of the time and space required for data backup in the system settings, which provides more transparency. The storage duration of the backups is now configured by default in days instead of the number of backup sets.

As an Exchange alternative, the Intra2net Business Server covers the typical requirements of small and medium-sized companies with 5 to 250 employees. All the important functions for teamwork are included, such as the sharing of e-mails, calendars, contacts, tasks and notes, including the synchronization of mobile devices.
