New models UF-160 and UF-260 for comprehensive UTM cybersecurity. The German network infrastructure supplier LANCOM is rejuvenating its range of desktop firewalls for small and medium-sized companies.

The new LANCOM R & S®Unified Firewalls UF-160 and UF-260 are powerful complete solutions for effective cybersecurity: from classic Unified Threat Management (UTM) to the latest cybersecurity technologies such as sandboxing and machine learning. They are now available from LANCOM dealers.

A new hardware design and further software developments ensure a leap in performance compared to the previous models UF-100 and UF-200. The UF-160 achieves an IDS / IPS throughput of 750 Mbit / s, the bigger sister more than 1,2 Gbit / s. This means that the desktop appliances are fully suitable for use on gigabit connections, especially since the UF-260 is equipped with a dedicated SFP port. LANCOM has also upgraded the range of functions. The UF-160 entry-level model now offers fully-fledged UTM with SSL and deep packet inspection, sandboxing and machine learning.

Firewalls with SSL & Deep Packet Inspection

The powerful SSL inspection counteracts the increasing encryption of data traffic, while the R & S®PACE2 deep packet inspection engine offers protection against highly complex APT cyber attacks. It enables the precise classification of network traffic, protocols and applications as well as protection against data leakage and data loss (data loss prevention, DLP) - also at layer 7 level. To protect against malware and viruses, including zero-day exploits, suspicious files are analyzed in a shielded sandbox with the help of machine learning. The cloud service used for this is hosted in Germany and complies with European data protection guidelines.

Graphical user interface & cloud management

The firewalls are operated intuitively via an innovative graphical user interface, which offers transparency across all secured areas in the company and considerably simplifies the implementation of company-wide security and compliance requirements. An HA network (high availability) with redundant hardware enables the highest level of failure safety. In addition, both models can be connected to the LANCOM Management Cloud (LMC) via a simple pairing process, which enables clear monitoring, including alarms about the device status, and remote configuration via the cloud.

The new models are now available from LANCOM specialist dealers. The UF-160 for up to 20 users starts at 699 euros (net), with the more powerful UF-260 firewall, LANCOM addresses companies with up to 40 simultaneous users. It is available for 949 euros net. Licenses for UTM functions and software updates are available with terms of one, three or five years.
