On the evening of December 2nd, next to Stefan Muhle, State Secretary for Digitization in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, blogger, book author and columnist Sascha Lobo and the theologian and former Council Chairwoman of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) Margot Käßmann will be on the stage.

Opening of TECHTIDE on December 2nd with a strong program

For Lobo, author of the book "Reality Shock", the digitization of the economy, culture and society is one of the greatest challenges of our time. In his keynote at the beginning of the opening event, he talks about the "post-pandemic society" and how Corona is accelerating and radicalizing digitization. Lobo describes the consequences for individual industries and social areas such as work and education as well as the entire digital transformation.

Lobo sees a spectacular example in the area of e-commerce, where the corona pandemic has turned Amazon into a fabulous two-trillion-dollar corporation. Not to mention that in the fall, the video conferencing provider Zoom will be worth five times as much on the stock exchange as the ten largest airlines in the world put together.

Award for AI talents

After the keynote, the election of the "digital place of the year 2020" in Lower Saxony will be carried out under the direction of Stefan Muhle. A total of three companies or organizations have been nominated. This is followed by the award for the AI talents of Lower Saxony. The laudatory speech is held by Prof. Dr. Joachim Hertzberg from the DFKI laboratory at the University of Osnabrück.

Another highlight in the TECHTIDE Opening program is the concluding panel discussion on the subject of digitization, democracy and ethics. Here the blogger Sascha Lobo meets the theologian Margot Käßmann. Together with Stefan Muhle, they will discuss the question of what digitalization means for dealing with one another in an immediate and direct (civil) society. The conversation deals with the increasing importance of participation as well as the diversity of the economic fields of application of digital technologies. Will the participatory world of digitization change the values and guidelines for dealing with one another? Who can or must set the guard rails for these changes?

The opening event of TECHTIDE on Wednesday, December 2nd from 18 to 20 p.m. will be broadcast live on the net. Participation is free of charge. Online registration required.
