Companies like to recommend their solutions in theory. In the following case study, an IT refurbisher uses the cyber security solution from ESET and shows how he protects his processes in everyday life.

The market for processed IT hardware is booming. So-called refurbishers like bb-net media GmbH buy discarded devices, bring them up to date with the latest technology and sell them on. Comprehensive IT security guarantees a smooth transition to the second life cycle. Managing Director Michael Bleicher sees this as an ongoing process that has to be constantly reconsidered and revised. This includes, for example, the data protection-compliant data deletion on delivered computers as well as the transport of the goods in sealed transport vehicles. Another important building block for protecting the corporate infrastructure are security solutions from ESET.

Comprehensive protection of companies and products

Before the refurbisher opted for solutions from the European IT security manufacturer, the requirements had to be defined. bb-net planned to develop a security architecture that reliably and future-oriented fends off common malware attack vectors. At the same time, administration should be carried out as efficiently as possible using a modern management console. The goal: All computers in the company as well as in the production network must be comprehensively protected against cyber attacks.

An endpoint security with ESET Dynamic Threat Defense

ESET Endpoint Security forms the basic defense in the bb-net system. The solution's multi-layer technology combines modules such as machine learning, ransomware protection, defense against fileless attacks and memory checking into a homogeneous unit. In 2020 bb-net decided to extend the security level in order to eliminate the risk of incoming, dangerous e-mail attachments. The choice fell on ESET Dynamic Threat Defense with cloud sandboxing technology.

The benefit: Safer, faster, free of malicious codes: the bb-net network is optimally protected against all kinds of attacks. It was designed in such a way that further new modules can be added at any time. This means that the security level remains at the highest level and can be further adjusted with minimal use of resources.
