The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has included Trend Micro in its list of qualified APT response service providers within the meaning of Section 3 of the BSI Act. With this list, the authority supports the operators of critical infrastructures and other companies in identifying suitable partners to contain and defend against targeted cyber attacks. The prerequisite for listing is the completion of a multi-stage qualification process.

Cyber attacks on critical infrastructures (KRITIS) and other organizations represent a growing danger. In view of the risk, operators increasingly need support, not only in preventing but also in defending against cyber attacks. Particularly targeted attacks by highly qualified actors (advanced persistent threats, APTs) place high demands on the service providers used.

Qualified help in an emergency

In order to support KRITIS operators in selecting suitable partners, the BSI publishes a list of qualified service providers for APT response. With the latest update, Trend Micro has been added to this list. The admission was preceded by a comprehensive, multi-stage examination procedure in which the Japanese IT security provider had to prove its suitability. In recent years, the company has extensively expanded its range of services in the area of incident response (containment and defense against cyber attacks).

The BSI list leads to professionals

"The listing by the BSI is a great recognition of our work and expertise," explains Dirk Arendt, Head of Public, Government and Healthcare at Trend Micro Germany. "More and more customers in the KRITIS area and beyond trust not only in our security solutions, but also in the skills of our experts. In an emergency, our incident response team is available around the clock to companies and institutions affected by a cyber attack – regardless of whether they are already our customers or are using our support for the first time.”

The list of qualified APT-Response service providers will update this BSI constantly and makes them available for free download as a PDF on its website ready.
