Around 100 authors responded to this call and submitted abstracts on 22 main topics. In mid-November 2021, the Advisory Board selected 28 contributions for the congress from these submissions. Contributions on topics such as "Cyber Security in Business", "Usable Security - The Human Factor in IT Security" or "5G / NESAS" will be presented and discussed at the 18th German IT Security Congress.

The BSI Congress digital

With over 8.000 participants, the BSI recorded a record crowd at the 17th German IT Security Congress, which took place in digital form for the first time in 2021. Live lectures and virtual exhibition stands made IT security tangible. With many lectures, specialist discussions and the two award ceremonies CAST/GI Promotionspreis IT-Sicherheit 2021 and Best Student Award, the two days of the congress provided a comprehensive professional insight into current topics of cyber security.

The great interest in the BSI congress shows that information security is a topic that people are concerned about. Cyber attacks or data theft do not take place in a virtual parallel world, but have real consequences for citizens as well as for companies and authorities. The positive response to the IT security congress, which was digital for the first time, forms the basis for the realignment of the congress, which will take place annually from now on.
