Bitdefender supplements its protection apps for private users with better malware detection and data protection functions, deep-level analysis, advanced VPN functions, Android scam alerts and checking of security configurations on iOS devices.

Bitdefender has added special functions to its protection apps for private users. These are particularly useful when the mobile device has also become part of the home office equipment. Users can now protect themselves with several advanced features to identify the growing number of mobile Android and iOS threats. Bitdefender has also expanded its offering to include additional functions for virtual private networks (VPNs). The new features are designed to help consumers protect their devices, personal data and their own identity in any environment. This includes a root cause analysis for attacks, a scam alert to protect against SMS phishing on Android devices and a security check for the configuration of iOS devices.

New root cause analysis

Bitdefender is expanding its entire line of Windows-based security products for home users with a root cause analysis. This provides an in-depth analysis and a complete overview of an attack. It provides information on how it was triggered and what the consequences would have been if it had not been blocked. Such information raises the security awareness of the users. Because they show that risky actions, such as clicking links or downloading files from untrustworthy sources, create danger.

New features in Bitdefender VPN

Bitdefender VPN now automatically disconnects devices as soon as a VPN connection is lost. This protects the data and the identity of the user. Low-risk and resource-intensive apps can use split tunneling to bypass the VPN tunnel and thus send their data without any loss of connection speed. Sensitive data continues to run via VPN: the rules for secure communication defined by the users are automatically implemented by an auto-connect function.

Android: Scam Alert function protects against SMS phishing

Android mobile device owners benefit from the new Scam Alert feature in Bitdefender Mobile Security for Android: It monitors and detects link-based mobile attacks transmitted via messaging apps and notifications. This warns users of the increasing frequency of phishing attempts via SMS messages, known as smishing, and of similar attacks.

Control of critical iOS device configurations

iOS users can now check the security status of their device locally by having Bitdefender assess the device's critical configurations: Is biometric authentication activated or the latest operating system installed? Such a check identifies security gaps and suggests to the user how to close them so that the devices are not exposed to danger.
