Cohesity, a leading provider of data management solutions, and Rackspace Technology, a leader in end-to-end multicloud technology solutions, have formed a strategic partnership. This allows Rackspace Technology customers Protect VMware-based clouds.

As part of the partnership, Rackspace Technology will offer its customers Rackspace Data Protection. It is a high-performance, software-defined backup and recovery service for VMware-based clouds, powered by Cohesity.

More protection for VMware-based clouds

Cohesity DataProtect provides the foundation of the Rackspace Data Protection solution. It includes data backup and recovery for VMware workloads and other options such as consulting services and ransomware anomaly detection and mitigation. Rackspace Data Protection gives customers key benefits and efficiencies in next-generation data management and protection, including:

  • One, Simple Solution - Rackspace Data Protection simplifies global backup and recovery by replacing multiple point products with a single solution for high-performance data protection and recovery on-premises or across multiclouds. In addition, organizations can secure and manage traditional and modern data sources from a single, global interface.
  • Ransomware Defense - Immutable Snapshots prevent ransomware from encrypting backup data. Machine learning-based anomaly detection helps uncover hidden threats and plays a key role in alerting customers to potential cyberattacks.
  • Rapid recovery at scale – In the event of a cyber attack, natural disaster, or human error, administrators with the appropriate authority can quickly restore granular-level data and applications to any point in time, thanks to fully-hydrated snapshots.
  • Scale while reducing data and storage requirements – By eliminating complex and expensive on-premises upgrades, companies can scale easily and non-disruptively. In addition, Rackspace Data Protection can optimize storage capacity and data mobility with global deduplication and variable-length compression to reduce customers' storage footprint and attack surface.

"By partnering with Cohesity, our customers will have access to a proven, robust data protection solution that eliminates old backup silos and provides comprehensive protection against a range of emerging data threats, including ransomware," said Josh Prewitt, chief product officer at Rackspace Technology. "Customers can now manage and control data recovery from a single source, storing data more efficiently and avoiding potential costly disruptions."
