XDR platform for real-time security monitoring and response expands Barracuda portfolio for managed service providers. Barracuda is thus entering the fast-growing market for Extended Detection and Response (XDR).

Barracuda Networks, a leading provider of cloud-enabled security solutions, announces the acquisition of SKOUT Cybersecurity, a leading US provider of cyber-as-a-service software for managed service providers. With the acquisition, Barracuda has entered the fast-growing Extended Detection and Response (XDR) market with a solution optimized for MSPs.

SKOUT's cybersecurity technology

SKOUT's advanced technology underscores Barracuda's merger and acquisition strategy, which includes the recent acquisition of Zero Trust Access provider Fyde. In addition to Barracuda's previous integrations with Open XDR platforms, SKOUT expands Barracuda's product line with a powerful XDR platform for MSPs supported by a 24 × 7 SOC.

According to Gartner, “Two of the greatest challenges for all security organizations are recruiting and retaining technically skilled employees for security operations and building the capacity for security operations to reliably configure and maintain countermeasures and to provide rapid detection and response capacity . Normal organizations are often overwhelmed by the overlap between these two problems. ”1

Important contents of the takeover

  • With SKOUT, Barracuda extends its solutions for MSPs and offers an XDR platform for proactive, continuous security monitoring in real time with response services for the endpoints, networks and the cloud managed by MSPs.
  • The SKOUT XDR platform creates a connection with critical security infrastructures such as e-mail, firewall, identity and access as well as a 24 × 7 SOC, which supports the detection and response to cyber attacks.
  • More efficient threat detection, analysis and response through additional functions.
  • Cost savings for training and staff for the 24 × 7 service, as the security experts from SKOUT take care of this. MSPs have greater choice and flexibility in building their cybersecurity expertise by leveraging a powerful combination of solutions, enablement tools, and human security expertise.
  • By integrating it into the existing security infrastructure, SKOUT offers investment protection for MSPs and makes it easier to deal with cyber attacks in different customer environments.

The acquisition is expected to close in July, subject to obtaining required regulatory and third party approvals and other customary closing conditions.

MSP partners thus receive a security solution

“MSPs must be able to protect their customers' end users, their devices, and the data they access on those devices from increasingly sophisticated threats. To achieve this level of protection for their customers and themselves, MSPs are transforming their offerings into 'security-centric' businesses,” said Brian Babineau, senior vice president and general manager, Barracuda MSP. “With SKOUT, Barracuda's MSP partners can deploy security solutions across their environments and tie their data feeds into a unified, XNUMX/XNUMX operation for fast analysis and response.”
