The Crosser Edge Analytics software now runs directly on the Secure Connector - Barracuda's scalable IoT hardware connectivity solution. Barracuda Secure Connector provides scalable and secure connectivity in IIoT environments. With the Crosser Edge application, which runs in a container on the Barracuda Secure Connector, data collected at the edge can be aggregated, combined and pre-filtered to reduce storage and intermittent transmission costs. In addition, the combined solution enables important data to be processed effectively in an on-premises or cloud analysis platform.
Using Crosser Edge on Barracuda products offers the following advantages:

Data cleansing and normalization
A common IoT scenario is collecting data from various sensors and devices that often communicate with different protocols and setups. In order to be able to use this data, the user has to normalize it and prepare it for further processing.
Predictive Maintenance
Crosser's detection intelligence, together with the Barracuda solution, is a powerful maintenance tool for improved and secure remote access - for example for real-time remote monitoring or predictive maintenance. The tool uses algorithms to detect anomalies and machine models in order to better predict and optimize machine runtimes.
Remote condition monitoring and networked machines
Barracuda developed its Secure Connector - equipped with WLAN and LTE - to network distributed environments. Stationary and mobile machines and vehicles can be connected in order to analyze data for condition monitoring and to offer optimized service programs for end customers.

While conventional edge solutions are only able to control and access edge devices to a limited extent, the use of the Barracuda solution enables full access via an encrypted VPN connection. This enables granular control over which data is processed. At the same time, it is possible to have full access if required, which can be controlled via various authentication methods.
Azure integration
Barracuda has native product integration with Azure. The Barracuda Firewall Control Center, Barracuda Secure Access Controller and Crosser Node are available in the Azure Marketplace and offer seamless connectivity to Azure services. Both the Barracuda Secure Connector and the Crosser Node application can be integrated into Azure IoT Edge and thus made available directly via the Azure Marketplace. In addition, with Crosser the data can be streamed directly to other Azure services, which simplifies the architecture and reduces the costs for cloud consumption.
