Baramundi UEM now with integrated antivirus management. Baramundi Software AG publishes the new 2021 R1 release of the baramundi Management Suite (bMS) in June. The comprehensive Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) received numerous improvements and extensions.

There is now a central administration of the Microsoft Defender Antivirus, new profiles for the staggered rollout of Microsoft updates, a display of historical data in the monitoring of Argus Cockpit, a mobile version of the baramundi Management Center, a ticketing system and numerous other detailed improvements. As in the previous versions, the existing modules in the 2021 R1 were further developed with feedback from customers from the Baramundi community.

Management of Microsoft Defender Antivirus

With the Defender Antivirus, Microsoft delivers a reliable, Windows-integrated antivirus solution free of charge. With the 2021 release, bMS can now also manage the Defender Antivirus centrally via the Defense Control module. Admins can see immediately whether the Defender is working and the underlying modules and components are doing their job properly. Any existing threats are recorded and reported centrally. It can also be used to automatically trigger virus definition updates, initiate quick or complete scans and, in stubborn cases, also start offline scans in WindowsPE mode.

Microsoft Update Management profiles

When installing updates, administrators face the same challenge every month: security gaps must be closed promptly, but the regular operation of the endpoints must not be disrupted. The staggered rollout of updates has proven to be best practice. Corresponding profiles are now available in the bMS for granular control of the update behavior. Admins can thus freely define the time lag with which they install updates on the respective end devices or whether certain update types should be excluded. Admins can postpone updates by up to 30 days, or e.g. B. generally exclude driver updates.

Individual threshold values in baramundi Argus Cockpit

The Argus Cockpit allows IT administrators to monitor the status of their IT system regardless of time and location. In the latest version, admins can now set individual threshold values from which they are informed about an existing need for action. Furthermore, Argus Trends can not only monitor the current status, but also visualize past events over a longer period of time. This makes it easier to track down systemic problems and to create security reports.

Regardless of whether it is about setting up new workplaces, support for end users or general troubleshooting of network problems, IT admins are constantly employed as service providers in the company. With the baramundi ticketing system powered by OMNINET, admins now have a quick and easy solution. You can use it to organize user inquiries efficiently, track the processing process easily and generate reports automatically. Thanks to ready-made workflow templates, the cloud-based tool can be used in a very short time without any special configuration effort. The integration of bMS jobs also makes it possible to solve standard queries automatically.

bCenter - management center in your pocket

The baramundi Management Center (bCenter) is now available as a completely redesigned, mobile version. With bCenter, admins can, among other things, start update jobs from their smartphone or tablet or check the status of their endpoints - without the need for a Windows PC with bCenter installed. The app is available free of charge for Apple iOS and Google Android in the respective stores.

Further innovations in license management

In addition to various security-related improvements, the bMS 2021 also includes numerous other innovations: The baramundi License Management module offers a new license balance, further improved options for displaying multiple usage rights and flexible assignment of licenses to devices. The bMS now also supports the automated recording of macOS devices through the Apple Automated Device Enrollment (formerly Device Enrollment Program / DEP), including the convenient setup of the administrative account. In addition, the Baramundi network map is being upgraded for a higher-performance structure.
