When the AV-TEST Institute examines security products in its laboratory, only hard facts and convincing results count. After evaluating all test values from 2021, AV-TEST presents the awards to the best products in IT security for companies.

The institute presents 12 awards to companies in the categories PROTECTION, PERFORMANCE and USABILITY for Windows and ANDROID SECURITY and MAC SECURITY for enterprise solutions.

Office, home office, mobile office

The year 2021 was marked by many challenges, some of which set the next one in motion like falling dominoes. The pandemic has placed great demands on private individuals and especially companies, as for many the classic work structures were turned upside down, sometimes within a few days. Some of the employees were only in the office, another part in the home office and some in the mobile office. But: Everyone should have access to their workplace, software tools or work data as usual and of course with the same level of security as before.

The strong growth in threats can also be clearly seen in the malware samples registered by the AV-TEST Institute in 2021. While the increase from 2019 to 2020 was still 113 million, it grew to over 2020 million from 2021 to 170 - an increase of almost 33 percent. This is one of the strongest increases in 10 years.

Many tests in 2021 - here are the winners

Of course, the digital threats registered in the AV-TEST databases are only one of the attack tools used by cyber criminals that cyber security solutions have to fend off, but they are one of the most important in their arsenal. The experts in the AV-TEST laboratory examine all Windows, MacOS and Android products for private users and companies and test their performance in the areas of PROTECTION (protective effect), PERFORMANCE (speed) and USABILITY (usability).
