As t3n reports, the collective Anonymous has again succeeded in another attack on Russia. It hacked into the Russian agency Roskomnadzor, which is responsible for regulating and censoring mass media. The spoils are 820 GB of data and information.
The Anonymous group already announced on February 24, 2022 that they would get involved in the war and thus officially declare cyber war on Russia. The current hack on Roskomnadzor is intended to show what Russia wants to hide from its citizens. That's why the group put more than 360.000 files online and allowed everyone to access them. However, users should be careful, as many e-mails and attachments were also published in the files. It is not clear whether phishing emails and malware are included as evidence.
More than 800 GB of data captured
Only time will tell whether there is still a lot of important information hidden in the data. So far no comprehensive evaluation has taken place. according to t3n, the data should refer to Bashkortostan, a republic with sovereign rights east of Moscow, near Kazakhstan.
Anonymous has already announced further actions and also wants to support Ukraine with hacks. This makes Anonymus one of the Western groups fighting against Russia. A few days ago, the company Kaspersky published an overview of which groups support the West and which support Russia – and some just want to go about their business.
