After about a year at the latest, even laypeople know what a cyber war means and what collateral damage it can cause to completely uninvolved companies. The AV-TEST laboratory tested and evaluated the performance of 17 endpoint products.

For the best protection of company and employee PCs with Windows, the AV-TEST specialists tested 17 protection products in the laboratory. The results show that the market offers very good security solutions for companies. However, individual products cannot quite keep up.

Ukraine war: collateral damage to companies

Last year there was repeated bad news about companies caught in the cyberwar attack between Ukraine and Russia. In some cases there was collateral damage, although companies do not deliver anything to these countries or are not involved in production. In some cases, the use of a service or technology that was affected by attacks had devastating consequences.

In order for companies to be well prepared against such side effects, the Windows PCs of the employees in particular should use a perfect defense mechanism against cyber attacks. For this purpose, the AV-TEST laboratory tested 17 security solutions currently available on the market for protecting employee PCs with Windows in companies. The laboratory test took place in May and June 2023 under the Windows 10 Professional version that is widely used in companies. The test was run twice in a row to get a meaningful result and not just a snapshot.

In the counter-check, over 1,3 million benign websites and files were checked that should not be recognized (false alarm test).

Test conclusion: Many outstanding endpoint solutions

Companies often have different requirements as to what equipment an endpoint solution should have. Based on this test, they can focus on that as well. Because the AV-TEST laboratory has shown the important values for protective effect, system load and usability with this test. The final result contains 9 products with the maximum achievable 18 points and another 6 products with very good 17,5 points. This means that 15 solutions have earned the additional TOP PRODUCT award.
